01Details
The Rose Bloom scrunchie pairs a hand-rolled silk rose with a softly gathered silk band. It holds a ponytail, a low bun or a loose overnight twist, and slips free without snagging. The rose measures 9 cm across; the band is 2.5 cm wide.
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Certified
Every Sensoire silk scrunchie is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified, meaning the fabric has been tested for harmful substances.
Gentle on Hair
Silk doesn’t absorb your hair’s natural oils. The smooth band helps reduce the friction and tugging that can lead to breakage.

A Rose That Holds Your Hair
01
Rolled by Hand
Each rose is rolled from a single length of 19 momme mulberry silk, petal over petal, then set onto a gathered band 2.5 cm wide. Nine centimetres across, sculptural but weightless.
02
Kinder Than Elastic
Silk has a smoother surface than cotton or nylon, so the band glides rather than grips. It helps reduce the friction and tugging that leave a hard crease by morning.
Wear it through the night in a loose twist, or through the day wherever a plain elastic feels too ordinary.
03
Certified Pure
Grade 6A mulberry silk, certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, tested for harmful substances against skin and scalp. In blush pink, ivory and black.
The Evidence
What the Research Says
Independent laboratory measurements of how fabrics and hair ties behave against hair.
01
The Fabric
TRI Princeton, an independent hair research institute, measured how much friction different fabrics create against hair. Silk recorded the lowest friction of the six fabrics tested, with satin close behind and cotton and velvet well above.
Extra friction compared with silk
- Luxury silkbaseline
- Satin
- Affordable silk
- Cotton
- Burlap
- Velvet
Velvet registered 37.4% more friction than cotton, and 76.5% more than satin. The study did not define how luxury and affordable silk were graded.
02
The Hair Tie
In a second test, fabric-covered hair ties needed less than half the pulling force of a plain elastic band to slide out of a ponytail, and left a shallower crease.
Extra force compared with a fabric-covered tie
- Fabric-covered tiebaseline
- Coiled polymer tie
- Plain elastic band
Measured as the peak force required to pull each tie down and out of a bundled ponytail.
Sensoire scrunchies are cut from Grade 6A mulberry silk, so the surface that meets your hair is silk, the fabric family that tested smoothest.

The Rose Bloom Scrunchie, Explained
Can I sleep in a silk scrunchie?
Yes. Silk is the reason to. A silk band sits against the pillow with far less friction than cotton or nylon, so it is well suited to a loose overnight twist. Tie hair softly rather than tightly, and let the rose rest to one side of the head.
What is 19 momme, and is it enough?
Momme measures the weight of silk. At 19 momme this scrunchie is substantial enough to hold its shape and its sheen, while staying supple enough to gather and knot. Heavier silk, from 22 momme upward, is what we use for pillowcases and bedding, where drape matters more than flexibility.
Which colour should I choose?
All three are the same silk and the same size. It is a question of what you wear it with.
| Colour | Reads as |
|---|---|
| Blush Pink | Soft, romantic, the easiest gift |
| Ivory | Quiet and bridal, close to neutral |
| Black | Sharpest with tailoring and evening wear |
Silk scrunchie or silk bonnet, which do I need?
A scrunchie protects the length of hair you gather into it. A bonnet covers the whole head, including the crown and the ends. If you sleep with hair down or move a great deal at night, a bonnet gives fuller coverage. If you already sleep in a loose twist or a plait, a silk scrunchie is the lighter, simpler option, and it can be worn out during the day.
How do I wash it?
Hand wash in cool water with a mild pH-neutral detergent. Do not wring or twist the rose. Press the water out in a towel and dry flat, away from direct sun and radiators. Reshape the petals with your fingers while the silk is still slightly damp.
