Are silk sheets worth it? For a lot of sleepers, yes, on two conditions. The sheet has to be real mulberry silk rather than satin, and it has to suit the way you sleep and the care you are willing to give it. Most of the \u201cnever again\u201d stories about silk sheets trace back to polyester satin, or to a fitted sheet that never matched the mattress.<\/p>\n

Silk sheets in five facts<\/p>\n

  1. Satin is a weave, not a fibre: a satin sheet can be silk, polyester, cotton or a blend.<\/li>\n
  2. One momme is about 4.34 grams per square metre. Silk sheets are usually 19 or 22 momme.<\/li>\n
  3. 22 momme carries about 16% more silk by weight than 19 momme of the same size.<\/li>\n
  4. Moisture regain under ASTM D1909: silk about 11%, cotton about 8.5%, polyester about 0.4%.<\/li>\n
  5. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 means the finished fabric has been tested for harmful substances.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
